PRIDE of Lancaster Assemblies

Posted on: 09/01/2019

All year the Academy works towards our values of PRIDE;

  • Preparedness
  • Resilience
  • Integrity
  • Diversity
  • Enterprise

So it was decided to celebrate this with a series of assemblies in which the tutor groups competed amongst themselves to win Heroes, and the Houses competed against each other to win pizza.

Each tutor group chose a champion of each value, (without knowing what the challenge would be!)

The champions then competed against each other.

Preparedness “preparing for success by improving knowledge” a general knowledge quiz

Resilience “showing resilience by overcoming physical discomfort for the greater good” a boxing and press up challenge.

Integrity “showing integrity by doing the right thing in not gaining unfair advantage” a memory game where the temptation to cheat was deliberately made available to all the students

Diversity “finding diverse ways to overcome problems” a game involving moving chocolates through different heights without using the hands

Enterprise “using enterprise to work out how to solve a problem” a skills game involving getting tennis balls into a bucket

All the students competed and supported with great enthusiasm.

At the end of the day, the year 11 forms competed in a decider.  It was great testament to everyone’s effort that there was only 1 point between 1st and 2nd and only 6 points between first and last..

Well done to all the prefects who worked so hard and gave valuable advice to make the challenges work and the event such a success, as well as Mr Boyd who hosted the other assembly.

However, it should be most noted, well done to the school population who engaged so well and showed such enthusiasm and behaviour that made the event not only enjoyable, but a great success.
