Intermediate Mathematical ChallengePosted on: 04/03/2019
The UKMT Individual Maths Challenges are lively, intriguing multiple choice question papers, which are designed to stimulate interest in maths in large numbers of students. On 7th of February our Academy took part in The Intermediate Challenge that is aimed at students in Year 11 and in Year 10.
The highest performers in the Challenge: bronze, silver and gold certificates were awarded to the top-scoring 40% of participants in the ratio 3:2:1.
Few words from our students:
"I found the Intermediate Maths Challenge thoroughly challenging. The test took place in the Gym under GCSE-like conditions. Some questions were logically based but most were mathematical. It was an exciting opportunity to take part in. It was slightly challenging, however it served as a great insight on how maths can be used in different problems or scenarios."
"The Maths Challenge was a great opportunity to test our maths skills. The questions were simple at the beginning but get more complex as you went along. Overall it was a great experience and helped us to see how much we have learnt as well as how we can apply wider mathematical knowledge in a different context. It was a good inside into what my GCSE exams will be like."
"The Maths Challenge was pretty hard, but you get what you give. The harder you work the better results you get."
Well done to Adam F who achieved GOLD and qualified to Pink Kangaroo!!!
