Ward 27 Toy Collection 2018
Posted on: 21/12/2018Collection for Ward 27
Firstly, I would like to say THANK YOU!
A week ago the staff and students at The Lancaster Academy were asked if they would donate towards a cause that is very close to my heart. I asked the students to help me collect small brand new gifts for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Children’s’ Cancer Ward (Ward 27). They have a ‘brave box.’
The response was overwhelming! The donations came in thick and fast and before we knew it, we had four crates full of toys. This was all because of the generous and compassionate contributions made by our Lancaster community.
My son was diagnosed with Leukaemia last year and since then our lives have been defined by hospital stays, treatment, surgery and transfusions. As parents, we see a lot of heartache on the ward but small gifts like the ones donated make a huge difference to the young children fighting big battles. That one smile, even for a little while, is all that matters during tough times.
What a wonderful way to end the year.
So, from the bottom of my heart and all the parents on Ward 27…….Thank you. xxx
