School Closure (Covid-19)

Dear Parent / Carer

I am sure that you are aware of the Government announcement on 18^th March 2020 instructing schools to close. I can now confirm that from Monday 23^rd March 2020 all Learning without Limits Schools, including South Wigston High School will be closed. In line with the Government directive we will however be open for children of Key Workers and those students that have an Education Health Care Plan or a social worker assigned.

If you fall into one of the categories above and wish to access the provision we have put in place to look after your child please visit  https://tinyurl.com/wepxupx or alternatively contact your school in the usual way. You must have completed this process by midday on Friday 20^th March 2020.

We have been planning for the possibility of a closure period and we have been working hard to build a bank of resources for students that will allow them to continue with their learning whilst at home. All students will have access to a mixture of online learning and ‘hard copies’ of work that support the curriculum they would have been following should they have remained in school. We appreciate that this is a difficult time for everyone, however we would ask that you support your child’s learning in any way you can during this period of closure.

Whilst our schools are closed it remains our duty and responsibility to safeguard our students. We will continue to work with families needing a bit of extra help and support throughout the period of school closure, just as if the school was open. Please do not feel offended if a member of school staff calls to check in with you, and speak to your child. If you have any safeguarding concerns whilst the school is closed, for your child or for any other pupil from the school, please contact the school via the link on the safeguarding section of their website.

Finally I would like to thank you for your support so far during these challenging times.  It is very important that we continue to work together over the coming weeks in an attempt to limit the impact that this situation has on the longer term life chances of our children.
