Hospitality & Catering for Black History Month

We are fortunate at Lancaster Academy to have a rich and varied cultural heritage amongst students and staff and can learn a lot from each other about cuisines from around the world.
Students are always encouraged to share the cuisine from their culture and educate their class on celebrations and food involved.
We ask students to develop any practical dishes to fit in with their specific dietary need so that they can be shared at home. Chilli Cottage pie was a definite hit!
Students in GCSE classes need to know how to plan menus for people from a range of backgrounds, cultures and religions and discuss how to do this in a healthy, balanced way.
To develop diversity and inclusion we regularly discuss and share food experience, cuisines and ingredients in our lessons and encourage others to try something new.
