Stephen Lawrence Virtual SessionPosted on: 23/04/2021
Today students in year 10 took part in a session which started with them finding out about the story of Stephen Lawrence and the work of the Stephen Lawrence Day Foundation. They then took part in a interactive virtual session led by Dr Karis Campion, with an introduction from Sherilyn Periera of the Stephen Lawrence Research Centre at the De Montfort University.
The session covered Measuring our Multicultural Society and students found out some of the ways that we measure ethnicity in the UK and were quizzed about how diverse the country is and where they think Leicester fits into this picture. The session prompted the students to consider and discuss why it is important to measure/analyse these statistics.
