King Power Stadium
Posted on: 03/11/2021READY day 2 – The University & Apprenticeship fair at the King Power Stadium
Continuing with our reinvigorated READY careers programme meant that our Y11 students got the opportunity to network with representatives with different universities and apprenticeship providers at the King Power Stadium. Here, students were able to practice their communication skills by doing some independent research into what their future options are in post 16 education and beyond.
Over the course of the day, students spent time looking at management strategies of what to do when dealing with a lack of self-confidence so that when they got to the fair, they could put that learning into action when having meaningful and professional discussions with the people at the different stands.
Students found this to be a helpful occasion, as one student said: “It helped me to understand how to apply for university and look at different courses.”
Though you could say it’s too early for some of our students to be picking their university courses at this point in their education, I prefer to think the quote “You’re never too young to dream big” applies here.
We want our students to be the best advocates for themselves as they move into the future. The more information and research they access, the better informed they will be so they can make the best decisions for themselves.
