Trips and Visits

Lancaster Academy is part of a global community and the destinations of our trips reflect this, you might have seen photos of students in the following locations:

  • On the top of Mount Toubkal as part of an expedition to the Atlas range in Morocco
  • In a Cologne Christmas market eating Bratwurst during our cultural and languages trip to Germany and France.
  • Observing with solemnity, the last post in Ypres, Belgium on a History trip to the WW1 battlefields
  • In La Risoul, slalom skiing down the side of a mountain in France
  • Singing in a market place in Bruges in a school choir tour to Belgium
  • Eating a madeleine in a café in Paris, as GCSE French students participated in language trip to Paris
  • Taking a boat around the statue of liberty in New York on an ICT trip to the big apple
  • Studiously completing art work in the inspirational Tate Gallery in London
  • Kayaking solo at Osmington Bay

Closer to home, we make excellent use of the opportunities that Leicester and the surrounding area provides for exhibitions, productions, and days out. For example, Duxford Air Museum, Kenilworth Castle, Leeds Armouries, Cadbury’s World, Go ape, Stratford’s theatres, Loughborough University, The Space Centre and The Leicester Royal Infirmary, to name but a very few. In addition, our renowned sporting success sees students competing locally and nationally with trips all over the UK.

Aims of our trips and visits

  • To encourage every student, outside of the classroom, to acquire the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to promote to the full their spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development
  • To encourage students to develop confidence, self-respect and a knowledge and understanding of other cultures and lifestyles, and to foster a growing sense of responsibility both within the school and in the wider community
  • To establish and maintain links with the wider community and, in particular, welcoming the help and support of our parents
  • To utilise every possible opportunity to enrich the experience for students by taking them to places many would otherwise never get to see
